Facelift
A face-lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure to create a younger look in the face. The procedure can reduce sagging skin. It can also help smooth folds of skin on the cheeks and jawline. Facelifts are very individualized surgeries that are unique to each person’s face and their result goals.
During a face-lift, a flap of skin on each side of the face is pulled back. Tissues below the skin are altered, and excess skin is removed.
This gives the face a more youthful shape. The look and shape of the face changes with age. The skin becomes looser and doesn’t snap back as easily. Fat deposits decrease in some areas of the face and increase in others.
The surgeons at BariClinic have been recognized for performing Facelift. They offer a variety of services with safe and effective techniques, including the Facelift and their decades of experience are reflected in their work.

Facelift Procedure
In general, a face-lift involves elevating the skin and tightening the tissues and muscles. Fat in the face and neck may be sculpted, removed or moved. Facial skin is then re-draped over the newly repositioned contours of the face. Excess skin is removed, and the wound is stitched or taped closed.
The incisions for the procedure depend on the techniques that will be used and the patient’s preferences. Options include:
- A traditional face-lift incision starts at your temples in the hairline. It continues down and around the front of the ears. It ends behind the ears in the lower scalp. An incision might be made under the chin to improve the appearance of your neck.
- A limited incision is shorter and begins in the hairline just above the ear. It wraps around the front of the ear but doesn’t extend all the way into the lower scalp. Neck lift incision starts in front of the earlobe. It continues around the ear into the lower scalp. A small incision also is made under the chin.
- A face-lift generally takes 3 to 6 hours. But it might take longer if other cosmetic procedures are done at the same time.
Depending on the type of facelift you get, your surgeon could make incisions on the place during surgery. The size of the incisions will also vary based on the type of facelift you’re getting. Your surgeon will discuss all of this with you before the surgery.
Facelifts generally involve repositioning and/or removing facial skin and/or fat and tightening facial muscles. After the procedure, your surgeon will close the incisions.
Facelift Post Op
Right after your facelift surgery, a healthcare provider will take you to a room for observation while you wake up from the surgery. You’ll be able to leave the hospital once you’re stable. This usually takes a couple of hours.
When your face-lift procedure is complete, you will likely have dressings, drains, or both. You will need to return to the surgeon a few days after the procedure to get the sutures removed. Sutures (stitches) can come out in five to 10 days after your procedure. You may have a bandage around your face to help minimize swelling and bruising. You may also have small drainage tubes. Bruising is visible for at least 2 weeks. It could take up to 6 to 9 months to see the full effect of the facelift.
- You will not be able to drive for a number of days after the operation – your surgeon would advise about this.
- You will have to avoid showering and getting the bandages wet for the first 2 days, and avoid strenuous activity, saunas and massages for at least 2 weeks.
- You also need to keep your head propped up with pillows for a couple of days while resting to reduce the swelling.
- After about a week, stitches are removed (unless you had dissolvable stitches).
- After several weeks: Bruises, scars and redness should have faded.
- After 6 to 9 months: The full effect of the facelift should be seen.
