Lower Eyelid Lift

A lower eyelid lift is a cosmetic surgical technique that can help you look more youthful and rejuvenated by treating issues like lower-eyelid puffiness, drooping, and wrinkles.

Lower eyelid surgery also called a lower blepharoplasty and can be performed by itself or in conjunction with other facial procedures like an upper eyelid lift or a forehead lift.

As we age, our skin loses elasticity, and the underlying facial fat layer loses volume. These changes can make our eyes look puffy and saggy. When this happens, we look tired and older than we really are.

A lower eyelid lift can help you look younger and more alert. It can correct wrinkles, loose skin, and excess fat in the lower eyelids.

A lower blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that can be performed for aesthetic reasons. It is different from an upper eyelid lift, which can be performed for functional or aesthetic reasons.

The surgeons at BariClinic have been recognized for performing Lower Eyelid Lift. They offer a variety of services with safe and effective techniques,, including the Lower Eyelid Lift, and their decades of experience are reflected in their work.

If you’re thinking about undergoing Lower Eyelid Lift, our experienced Dr. Giedrius Stankevičiuscan help you.

Lower Eyelid Lift Procedure

Lower eyelid lift procedures can be done under local anesthetic with sedation or general anesthesia.

Your surgeon will need to know whether you are taking any medicines, such as aspirin or warfarin, that could reduce your risk of blood clots.

Lower eyelid surgery involves making an incision an incision either just below the lower eyelashes or on the inside of the lower eyelid, repositioning or removing fat from the bags under the eyes, and sometimes also a small amount of skin. It supports the muscles and tendon of the eyelid if necessary and then surgeon will close the incision.

After surgery, the surgeon will usually apply thin, sticky strips called suture strips to support the eyelids. These are usually removed up to 1 week later.

Surgery on the lower lid may take up to 2 hours. Most patients can go home the same day.

Lower Eyelid Post Op

It’s best to take about a week off work after eyelid surgery. You may notice that you look tired and that some of your movements are slower for a little while after surgery, but most people return to their normal activities in about a week.

After the operation, you will not be able to drive for a number of days. Bruises and scaring may take several weeks to fade, and redness may last longer.

It might be a good idea to prop your head up with pillows for a couple of days, when resting, to reduce swelling. You need to clean your eyelids using prescribed ointment or eyedrops. You can hold a cold pack to your eye for a few days – try a packet of frozen peas wrapped in a tea towel. You can wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun’s harmful rays.

You should avoid strenuous activity and refrain from swimming for a few days, smoking as smoke can irritate your eyes, wearing contact lenses or rubbing your eyes, side effects include blurred vision.

Lower Eyelid Lift Recovery

You may experience swelling, and bruising in your eyelid for 1 to 3 weeks following surgery.

You may notice a gradual improvement in the appearance of your eye for 1 to 3 months after treatment.

Most people feel ready to go out in public and return to work after about 10-14 days.
