Neck Lift
A neck lift is a procedure that improves the appearance of the jawline and neck by lifting the skin, tightening facial muscles, and reshaping the face.
The procedure removes excess skin and fat from the neck to address age-related wrinkling and creasing in this area, giving you a smoother, slimmer profile.
Some people feel they are not ready for a full facelift because their upper face still looks good. Many patients will notice excess skin wrinkling on their necks, double chins, or “turkey wattles” and jowl lines. If the neck area doesn’t match the upper facial appearance, a neck lift may be needed to create a smoother, more pleasing look.
Your surgeon will tell you not to take certain medications or supplements before your procedure to lower your risk of excessive bleeding. If you have any drug allergies, tell your doctor. Although it’s rare, you could have an allergic reaction to the anesthesia. If you are going to have surgery and smoke, you will need to stop smoking for at least four weeks before the surgery and four weeks after.
Eat a healthy diet. That will help your body heal. It’s a good idea to schedule 1 week off from work. Ask your doctor exactly how much time you should take off work.

Neck Lift Procedure
Neck surgery can be performed in the surgeon’s office-based surgical facility, an outpatient surgery center, and a hospital.
The surgeon will ensure the person is comfortable during the procedure by using anesthesia.
General anesthesia puts the patient in a deep sleep while they are being operated on. Sedative medications allow them to remain awake and relaxed, with local anesthesia so there is no pain.
The surgery itself takes an hour or so, during which time the surgeon makes small incisions around and behind your ear, a very small one under your chin. When the surgeon has finished tightening and removing extra skin and fat from the neck area, he or she closes the incision and applies a pressure dressing around the person’s head and underneath his or her chin.
Neck Lift Post Op
Afterward, the person may notice that the neck feels tight, but in most cases pain is not a problem. There may be bruising, which fades in a couple of weeks. Any scars resulting from the procedure are hidden under the chin or around the contours of the ears.
Recovering from a neck lift takes time. Most people can return to work in 10 to 14 days.
If you participate in sports or are physically active, you will have to wait 3 weeks or more to resume those activities. Give yourself time to heal to get the most benefit from the procedure.
It is important to avoid lifting heavy items (including children and pets) for the first few weeks.
Neck Lift Recovery
Full recovery from neck lift procedures is around 4-6 weeks. However, some patients may experience residual tightness for several months following their surgery.
