Upper Eyelid Lift

Upper eyelid surgery is a cosmetic procedure that lifts the skin on top of your eyes, making your face appear younger. It can also reduce bags under your eyes and dark circles. This procedure will help lift your eyes and make them appear more youthful.

If you’re considering upper eyelid surgery, there are several things you should consider before deciding whether or not to go through with it. First, you need to determine what kind of results you want.

There are two main types of upper eyelid surgery: blepharoplasty (eyebrow reduction) and browlift. Blepharoplasty removes excess fat and skin from the area above your eyes, while browlift lifts the eyebrows up and away from your eyes. Both procedures can give you a refreshed, rejuvenated look.

In addition to improving your appearance, upper eyelid surgery can also help reduce the signs of aging. This includes wrinkles, bags under your eyes, dark circles, and sagging skin. By removing these areas of excess skin and fat, you can achieve a more youthful appearance.

Before surgery you should avoid taking tablets containing aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen and Diclofenac for at least two weeks before surgery as they increase the risk of bleeding.

The surgeons at BariClinic have been recognized for performing Upper Eyelid Lift. They offer a variety of services with safe and effective techniques, including the Upper Eyelid Lift, and their decades of experience are reflected in their work.

If you’re thinking about undergoing Upper Eyelid Lift, our experienced Dr. Giedrius Stankevičius can help you.

Upper Eyelid Lift Procedure

During the surgery, the surgeon makes an incision in the natural fold of your eye, and removes excess skin, muscle and possibly fat along your upper eye lid. The incision is hidden in the eyelid’s natural crease. The procedure is performed as a same-day surgery, which means your recovery is done comfortably at home.

For upper eyelids, the surgeon cuts along the fold of the eyelid. The surgeon removes some excess skin, muscle and possibly fat.

Then the surgeon closes the cut. If your upper eyelid droops close to your pupil, your surgeon may do blepharoplasty combined with a procedure called ptosis (TOE-sis). Ptosis is designed to lift the eyelid as well as remove excess eyelid skin.

The incision lines (and scars) run in the natural crease of the upper eyelid. These incisions are extended a little way into the crow’s feet or laughter lines at the corner of the eyes. Through this incision surplus fat is removed and excess skin and sagging muscle removed. Eyelid scars fade with time and are normally barely visible after some months.

Upper Eyelid Lift Post Op

After surgery patients are able to go home the same day. Bruising lasts about one week and we would recommend a return to work after the bruising and swelling has subsided. The sutures are usually removed after 7 days and soon after you will be able to use make-up.

After surgery you might temporarily have blurred vision from the lubricating ointment applied to your eyes, watering eyes, light sensitivity, double vision, puffy, numb eyelids, swelling and bruising similar to having black eyes, pain or discomfort.

Take the following steps to help you recover from surgery unless your surgeon gives you different instructions:

  • Use ice packs on your eyes for 10 minutes every hour the night after surgery.
  • The following day, use ice packs on your eyes 4 to 5 times throughout the day, use prescribed eye drops or ointments, sleep with your head raised higher than your chest for a few days apply cool compresses to reduce swelling, wear dark sunglasses to protect the skin of your eyelids from sun and wind.
  • Don’t do anything strenuous for a week — no heavy lifting, swimming, jogging or aerobics. Leave Smoking, don’t rub your eyes, don’t wear contact lenses for about two weeks. As instructed, return to the care provider’s office to have stitches removed, if needed.

Seek medical attention immediately if you have any of the following symptoms:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Chest pain
  • An unusual heart rate
  • Severe new eye pain
  • Bleeding, Vision problems.

Upper Eyelid Lift Recovery

Many people feel more self-confident and feel they look younger and more rested. For some people, surgery results may last a lifetime. For others, droopy eyelids can recur. Bruising and swelling generally lessen slowly in about 10 to 14 days. The appearance of your eye may continue to get better for 1 to 3 months
